Leo Wang, M.D.
Glaucoma and Cataract Surgeon

Dr. Leo Wang is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in glaucoma and glaucoma surgery. He received his B.S. in Physiology from the University of Illinois and his M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He finished his residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary at the University of Illinois. He followed with a year-long glaucoma fellowship at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Dr. Wang was in private practice in the south suburbs of Chicago for 8 years, developing a reputation for skilled surgery and compassionate care before going on to co-found Helix Eye Care. He is also a faculty member in the residency program of the John Stroger Hospital of Cook County, helping to train the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Wang believes that restoring and preserving vision is his most important goal. There are very few things more important to the quality of his patients’ lives than good vision, and he devotes himself to providing his patients with the best possible care. He has done thousands of glaucoma and cataract surgeries in his career, and continues to seek out new and cutting-edge surgeries to benefit his patients. Dr. Wang is one of the only physicians in the Northwest Indiana area performing surgery to implant the iStent Trabecular Micro-bypass stent. He is the first and only surgeon in the area currently using the Micropulse P3 laser for the treatment of glaucoma.

When not practicing ophthalmology, Dr. Wang can be found spending time with his wife and son, lifting weights, playing Ultimate Frisbee, and having his heart broken by various Chicago sports teams.
